During ALLUMINOUS, an enormous, luminous cloud suddenly hangs from Almere's iconic lighthouse, from which a thousand small ideas drip. What if it didn't rain water, in the rainy country of the Netherlands, but something completely different? When is it raining that you leave your umbrella at home and go outside? That was the question the artists asked 800 children from 10 primary schools in Almere, and such an open question led to inspiring and sometimes wonderful ideas. Because instead of water it can also rain flowers, money and bubble tea. Or something more ominous (and dangerous): turtles, iPhones or milk cartons. The artists created this educational artwork with the intention of appealing to children's imagination and ingenuity as openly as possible and thus creating an image of a collective stream of ideas of young people from Almere. The artists worked together with, among others, the following schools from Almere: Alexander Roozendaalschool, OBS Polygoon, Vuurvogel Primary School, Nautilus SO, Taalcentrum Almere and MeynSchool.
CLOUD can be seen at the lighthouse on Utopia Island.
