In Abri Maximaal, visitors discover a whole series of artworks, together as a light landscape on the Weerwater. Two visual languages come together in the light artwork: the dark Weerwater reflects the glittering skyline of Almere and from the water, artworks seem to emerge that resemble neon signs: seductive objects in which light is refracted and reflected by the material, as if shelters from the city are given a new character. Stedenwijk is supplemented with cryptic poetry that pleasantly turns the city and urban nature upside down. Technological visual language of our time suddenly becomes delicately absurd and romantic at the same time.

MEET THE ARTIST:
Jop Vissers Vorstenbosch
uses painting to create experimental, large-scale installations in which he assembles striking materials into new shapes and textures, often in combination with light elements. His work has previously been shown at the Centraal Museum, Singer Museum, Dordrechts Museum and at festivals such as Unseen, Into the Great Wide Open and Best Kept Secret. In 2020, the Neude Library in Utrecht unveiled a large public work that the artist made in the hall of the famous building.

Abri Maximaal was created with the support of Singer Laren, Into the Great Wide Open and Best Kept Secret.
