Four duos of a total of eight artists create new light artworks for ALLUMINOUS 2023. The artists have been working on their proposals since spring and will be working on the production of their artworks in the summer of 2023.
The following artists are part of ALLUMINOUS 2023:
Maaike Fransen en Juul Dekker (on behalf of Vis à Vis)
Vis à Vis invited scenographer Juul Dekker for ALLUMINOUS 2023. He will collaborate with visual artist Maaike Fransen.
Maaike Fransen (1987) is a visual artist working on the interfaces of design, fashion, performance and film. Recent work Comfort Zone(s) was shown in the Kunstkapel in Amsterdam and her series of films How to Make a Living she presented solo with Galery LANGART at Art Rotterdam 2023. She has worked for, and in collaboration with, the Danish fashion designer and artist Henrik Vibskov and body architect Lucy McRae. In 2017 she won the PIG-PRIZE (Practical-Intelligent-Genius Prize) which is awarded annually by Henrik Vibskov to 'extraordinary creative talent.' Juul Dekker (1985) is a scenographer and set builder and recently designed the stage for award-winning performances by Eline Working conditions such as Weg met Eddy Bellegeule (Toneelschuur Productions) and De Jaren (The National Theatre). He often worked with collectives, whether on location or not, such as De Warme Winkel, Collective Walden and Raoul Collectif (Théâtre National, Bruxelles). He has also previously presented projects in public space with his own collective LABland, with whom he shares a workshop at Het Domijn.

Oceanic en Theun Mosk (on behalf of Gouden Haas)
Gouden Haas approached Theun Mosk to participate on ALLUMINOUS 2023. He will collaborate with Oceanic on this.
Theun Mosk (1980) works as a visual artist, theater maker, set and lighting designer, on projects in the Netherlands and abroad, with partners and clients such as Michel van der Aa, Robert Wilson English National Opera, Toneelgroep Oostpool, Medhi Walerski, Boukje Schweigman, Touki Delphine, Oerol Festival, Ballet BC Vancouver, Theaterfestival Boulevard, and the Frisian Nature Museum for the European Capital of Culture 2018. In 2007 he won the Charlotte Köhler Prize and was selected for the Prague Quadriënnale in the same year and in 2011. In 2017 he received the Proscenium Prize for his substantial contribution to Dutch theatre. In 2020, he and Balster van Duijn (business partner) founded Ruimtetijd, which is located in Fort Ruimtetijd in Penningsveer, a Unesco heritage location. Oceanic (stage name of Job Oberman) is a DJ, producer and sound artist. In 2023 he presented his debut album Choral Feeling. In addition to his international performances as a DJ, he previously developed experimental music and sound projects with jazz vocalist Greetje Bijma and the classical avant-garde Ensemble Klang, and was part of SHAPE, a European network and platform for experimental art.

MAISON the FAUX & Linda Bosch (on behalf of Suburbia)
On behalf of Suburbia, Linda Bosch will work on ALLUMINOUS 2023, in collaboration with MAISON the FAUX.
MAISON the FAUX, consisting of Tessa de Boer (1990) and Joris Suk (1987), creates autonomous fashion performances and works as a design studio on commission for various clients in the cultural field such as NITE, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Modemuseum Hasselt and the Opera in Hamburg. MAISON the FAUX received the podium prize from the Gieskes Strijbis Fund in 2021 and received the fashion stipend from the Culture Fund in 2022. Linda Bosch (1989) is a theater maker and artistically responsible for Suburbia in the neighborhood at Suburbia. She also worked on projects for, among others, Theater Na de Dam, DEGASTEN and her own foundation SALTY.

Zindzi Witte & Serano Pinas (both on behalf of BonteHond)
BonteHond selected two makers to jointly develop a special education project for ALLUMINOUS 2023: Zindzi Witte and Serano Pinas.
As a media artist, Zindzi Witte (1991) is part of the artistic team of Theater Company BonteHond. She also works on video clips, animations, documentaries, books and other multidisciplinary projects. Serano Pinas (1987) is a choreographer and performer who created the dance for the performances Broek Uit! and was seen as a performer in the performance Schoppen and Superslow by BonteHond. He is currently training for the new performance Pinocchio Effect by Maas theater and dance.

Enric Monfort (Black Pencil) & Jurjen Alkema
This year, Almere based ensemble Black Pencil is joining the ALLUMINOUS program. Together with visual artist Jurjen Alkema, they present a special spatial sound and light installation with a composition of Enric Monfort (Black Pencil) at Schipperplein in Almere.
Black Pencil is a music collective of five musicians that has performed extensively in classical halls, and on stages and festivals in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, Denmark and Venezuela since its founding in 2010. Black Pencil programs its own concert series in Amsterdam and Almere, and collaborates with Land Art Flevoland and Schokland UNESCO World Heritage. Recent projects bring the band together with the world of virtual reality, theater, dance and landscape art. Jurjen Alkema (1976) is a visual artist and audiovisual designer. He worked as a designer and as an autonomous artist for many theater productions, festivals, concerts and museums such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, harpist Remy van Kesteren, The Hague Highlights light festival, Metropole Orchestra, ASKO Ensemble. Until 2021 he was part of the collective Blauwe Uur, with which he was active for Amsterdam Light Festival, Van Gogh Museum, Light Night Leeds, Luminale Frankfurt and several theater, pop and dance festivals.
Enric Monfort (Black Pencil) and Jurjen Alkema will present a large-scale installation at the Schipperplein.
